About the event

We are delighted to be host Apeiron Baroque for their first performance in the Courtroom  – a really great venue for these musicians.  Apeiron was launched in 2022 by Early Music specialists John Ma and Marie Searles.  After honing their skills in the concert halls and ensembles of Europe over nearly two decades, the pair returned to Canberra to reconnect with family and to share their knowledge and experience with Australian colleagues and audiences.

Taking cues from genres of music such as pub bands, jazz, and folk, Apeiron aims to present high-quality concerts that are honest, raw, and passionate in a casual and relaxed atmosphere. Their repertoire is chosen from the early Baroque (c.1700) to the early Romantic (c.1850) and performed on period instruments in historically appropriate styles.

Viola and viola d’amore player John is well known to Gunning, having directed the Musica da Camera String Orchestra for two rapturously received performances in the Shire Hall in recent years.  At this concert in the Courtroom, he will combine with his wife Marie on harpsichord or fortepiano.

Full details of this concert will be announced nearer the time, so watch this space for updates.  Or, to ensure you get early alerts about this and other GFG events, ask us to add your name to our mailing list by contacting us at mailto:gunningfocusgroup@gmail.com
